The history
of using silver ion
Silver's application in sterilization B.C.
Speaking of the usage of silver, we can trace it back in a medical
book, which is written in a kind of ancient Indian, Sanskrit.
There's one record, "The army used silverware to store potable water
during their expedition." From this record, we can find the fact that
people began to make use of the special effect of silver in germ's
inhibition from early ages.
In the middle ages, it was popular using silver tableware among the
European royal families and aristocrats.
This also was one respect of using silver in sterilization. Nowadays,
we use silver to make denture, or use silver nitrate solution to make
eye drops. There're many kinds of application like this. The use of
silver in sterilization makes its
special effect on disinfecting germs still remained confusing for
a long time. In recent years, after many researches by scientists,
people get to know that it is silver ion (Ag+) which has the unique
effect on disinfection towards many kinds
of microbe (germs, funguses, viruses, pathogen, alga, etc.) As a result,
silver ion is used as an effective way in the distinfection of potable
water. The pure system on the spacecrafts and airplanes is using this
method.
According to the statistics of different function materials in 2002,
the total kinds of the sterilization products have already reached
to 70. Therefore, it becomes a question, what standard can be used
by customers to determine the quality of products? How can we compare
the effect of disinfection in numbers? Whether the special effect
remains after washing?

To dermatophytes in experiment 1, it is 100000 that the bacterium
when being initial counts , drop to the level unable to examine out
after 18 hours.( left photo)
In experiment 2, to general cloth, if the initialvalue of the dermatophytes
is 100000, growth is 150000 18 hours later.
Good result is also received in the washing experiment (2,000min)

The silver ion
line is got through adhering to the silver ion on the high polymer
